In the mist of Covid 19 Global Pandemic GBV took a center stage in the republic of South Africa which plagued South Africa a second pandemic declared by His Excellency Cyril Ramaphosa. This form of violence is chiefly rooted in power, inequalities between men and women and unfortunately, it is often the women and children who found themselves being in the receiving end.

The Instabul Convention Acts emphasizes that such violence results in ‘physical, sexual, psychological or economic harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or private life’. In South Africa and the world, it is estimated that 1 in 3 women will experience sexual or physical abuse in their lifetime. As a foundation that holds women and children in high esteem, the Skeem GP Foundation is committed in fighting this pandemic from the roots upwards by continuously heightening the call to co-ordinate and compile programs that spread awareness against Gender Based Violence to the South African community at large.

The Foundation has been known to be at the forefront, advocating and fighting for justice for slain victims and for the lucky few who had the privilege to be declared survivors of this deadly pandemic, spearheading the arrests of perpetrators in the process and making sure that justice is indeed served. The following are some of the campaigns that the Skeem GP Foundation has been involved in over the years and as the call to fight for the rights of women and children continues, a crime free South Africa is possible after all.
